Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

Located in the quiet resort of Golf Del Sur and a speedy 10-minute drive away from Tenerife South airport, the Bahia Principe Fantasia is without a doubt one of our top family hotels in Tenerife.

The Resort

We love the fact that it is close to the airport. It’s ideal if you have sleepy tots after a long flight. You have a few shops, bars and restaurants in the area (some directly opposite the hotel.)  There’s a small promenade for walking and you will find a marina, a pharmacy and cash machines. The best beaches are a short drive away. You have local buses running hourly for as little as 3 euros and taxis are fairly cheap too. Around 10 euros will get you to the nearest big beach. Taxis to the bigger resorts such as Los Cristianos can be a lot more expensive. Lots of people staying in this hotel choose to hire a car during their stay to give them extra freedom. You can often park for free on the street outside or 8 euros per night in the hotel car park. (This has to be arranged directly with the hotel).

The hotel is absolutely magical and even has a fairytale castle beside the pool that lights up every night! Even when you check in, children are a priority with a playroom located in reception and a magician performing tricks and offering candy treats. (The magician works at peak check in/out times).

The pools

There are a grand total of 7 swimming pools in this hotel including an adult only sanctuary, a kid's pool and even an on-site waterpark full of slides, tipping buckets and sprinklers for children of all ages and size. (The bigger slides have a minimum height requirement of 1.2 metres). Five of the pools are heated as well, most importantly the two children’s pools. There are lifeguards on duty throughout the day and there are plenty of sun loungers next to the kid's pools so you can keep a close eye on your little ones easily.

Entertainment

The entertainment team are incredible at this hotel. Pool games for all ages take place throughout the day as well as several other activities. Mini golf, aerobics and table tennis just to name a few. Every age group and tastes are catered for.

The evening entertainment is excellent with daily mini discos, circus acts and live shows in the hotel’s Grand Theatre.  They tend to have more family based entertainment taking place early on, with more adult music and shows later on. The great thing is that you have multiple evening entertainment venues. If you prefer more relaxed music instead of a show, try the lobby cocktail bar, or watch live sports events in the sports bar.

Kids Clubs

The hotel has both kids clubs and teen clubs with perfectly chosen activities for specific age groups.

The kids club is perfect for children aged between 3-12 years old. Most hotels start from age 4! Another bonus is the that the kids club is open all day. 10:00-20:00. They also take your phone number in case your little one wants to leave they can contact you easily. There’s a huge room with toys and soft play as well as a pizza making station and a mini theatre stage. Just opposite the miniclub is a football/sports court where the kids club staff organise games and fun activities throughout the day.

Babysitting can also be arranged with the hotel for an additional charge. (Approximately 15 euros per hour however this can increase due to availability and season). Speak with the hotel directly to book. 

The Teen Club is aimed at 13-17 year olds. Open from 10:00-23:00 they can enjoy organised sports, games, games consoles, music, movie nights and drama.

Top Tip... There is a playroom with a TV and games located right beside the main buffet restaurant. If you want to feed the kids first and eat your dinner in peace, ask reception at check in what hours the playroom will be supervised during your stay and time your meals accordingly.

This playroom is open all hours however, it is only supervised at certain times.

Gastronomy

There are plenty of dining options including a huge buffet restaurant to suit even the fussiest of eaters, 3 A La carte restaurants (Asian, Steakhouse and Italian) as well as the Dream Factory snack bar, a favourite with the kids! Little ones can help themselves to ice creams, snacks, fruit, hot dogs and more all day long in the Dream Factory! The main buffet restaurant has a children’s section and the a la carte restaurants have specific menus for kids. They can heat up baby milk, make special purées and they have baby stations throughout the hotel with microwaves etc for heating bottles.

The Rooms

The rooms are spacious and junior suites and family rooms all come with a separate lounge area with sofa beds. Most rooms can accommodate between 2-5 people. They can provide cots on request and all rooms come with a mini bar and kettle.

The family rooms have partition doors that you can close for quiet time or privacy. Most rooms come with a separate bath and shower which is handy, as well as specific toiletries for children. If a bath is important, make sure you specifically book the room type that includes it. There are several room types on offer so make sure you book the one that suits you best.

The hotel can even provide baby stations on request. These include bottle heating facilities, baby baths and changing maths. These facilities are free of charge but must be ordered in advance.

PROS:

• Large rooms are a standard here. Rooms can sleep between 2-5 people. Family rooms come with a partition door and separate bedroom area.
• There is family focused entertainment and shows day and night including mini discos.
• The kids club starts from 3 years old, not 4 like most hotels. Also, it is open throughout the entire day!
• Younger kids can use the kids club facilities as long as supervised by an adult.
• 7 pools to choose from. 5 pools heated in the winter (Including the kids pools).
• Splash parks with slides for all ages and tipping buckets.
• Many dining options as well as kid’s buffets/menus
• Snack bars and baby stations to prepare baby food.
• Playroom beside the main restaurant.
• Babysitting can be arranged.
• The hotel looks impressive with its fairytale castle and enchanted tree!
• It’s close to the airport and one of Travel 4 Baby’s favorite hotels.

CONS:

• Golf Del Sur can be windy so it’s a little colder in the winter months.
• The resort is smaller than resorts such as Costa Adeje and Las Americas so there are less places to walk to.
• No family beach within walking distance.
• Attractions such as Siam Park are around a 30 minute drive away.A couple of the slides have a minimum height requirement of 120cms however there are smaller slides for little ones too.
