Our Top 10 Family Hotels in Tenerife
Travel 4 baby understand that choosing the right hotel for you and your family can be tricky, so we have devised this helpful guide to show you our favourite hotels for families in Tenerife. We live on the Island, we have children here and we have tried and tested them all. We really hope this helps you when you are looking at booking your next Tenerife holiday.
1. Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife
Located in the quiet resort of Golf Del Sur, a five minute drive from Tenerife South airport, the Bahia Principe Fantasia is without a doubt one of our top family hotels in Tenerife. This hotel is absolutely magical and even has a fairytale castle beside the pool that lights up every night! There are a grand total of 7 swimming pools in this hotel including an adult only sanctuary, a kid's pool and even an on-site waterpark full of slides, tipping buckets and sprinklers. Most of the pools are heated as well, most importantly the two children’s pools. The rooms are spacious and junior suites and family rooms all come with a separate lounge area with sofa beds. Most rooms can accommodate between 2-5 people. There are plenty of dining options including a huge buffet restaurant to suit even the fussiest of eaters, 3 A La carte restaurants (Asian, Steakhouse and Italian) as well as the Dream Factory snack bar, a favourite with the kids! The entertainment is excellent with minidiscos, circus acts and live shows. There’s kid’s clubs and teen clubs with perfectly chosen activities for specific age groups. There are several bars and an amazing entertainment team working day and night to keep the whole family entertained.
PROS - Large rooms are a standard here. There is family focused entertainment. The kids club starts from 3 years old not 4 like most hotels. It’s close to the airport and one of Travel 4 Baby’s favourite hotels.
CONS- Golf Del Sur can be windy so it’s a little colder in the winter months. The resort is smaller than resorts such as Costa Adeje and Las Americas so there are less places to walk to.
2. Hard Rock Hotel
The Hard Rock hotel in the quiet resort of Playa Paraíso is a perfect family hotspot and one of our favourite hotels on the Island. The hotel specialises in family fun and caters for all age groups perfectly. They have a Teen Spirit club for teenagers aged between 10-16 to escape from their parents and socialise in a safe, fun space with video games and music. They have the Roxity Club for kids aged 4-9 with loads of fun activities. They even have a baby club for children as young as 6 months old! The hotel has large rooms which are super soundproofed. They can sleep between 2-4 people and they even have single parent rooms available if required. They offer a variety of board basis from Bed and Breakfast up to All Inclusive. There are 7 restaurants within the hotel and they can even prepare baby food if needed. The entertainment is spectacular with live music and fun galore. You will find 3 main outdoor pools, one of which is heated in the winter. There’s a splash pool, a beach club and kids can even use the family spa too. The hotel is fun, relaxing and stunning. For families wanting an exciting holiday, the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife is the perfect option.
PROS - There’s an amazing selection of entertainment and the kid's club is available from 6 months old!
CONS - it can be a little noisy with the loud music however all the rooms are soundproofed. The resort is small so there are less amenities within walking distance.
3. Hotel Landmar Costa Los Gigantes
Situated in the beautiful Los Gigantes area, the Hotel Costa Los Gigantes offers families the perfect family vacation. This All-inclusive hotel has vast open spaces, large rooms and an exceptional number of facilities catered specifically for children. You can book standard rooms, large double rooms or for more space, suites come with a separate living room area. They can sleep up to 4 people. Some rooms can even sleep up to 5 people. For an extra special touch, you can book a ‘Landi suite’. When booking a Landi Suite, Landi, the hotel’s giant turtle mascot will meet and greet you at the hotel, you receive 1-hour free baby club during your stay and the rooms offer extra children’s facilities and toiletries too. There are several bars and restaurant options available including buffet, A La Carte and even show cooking. They have children’s sections and will heat up baby food on request. Children are kept happy with a small water park, a soft play area, a mini golf course and even a high ropes circuit! You will find 6 pools including 2 baby splash pools as well as a pool with a slide. Children aged from 4 upwards can even use the indoor heated spa at specific times. There’s a great entertainment team within the hotel organising daily and nightly activities. The mini club includes sports, arts and crafts, games and more specifically for kids aged between 4-12 years old. The baby club comes with an extra charge and it’s open 10-6pm, five days a week. They look after children aged between 6 months and 3 years old.
PROS - Large number of facilities and entertainment for the whole family. Large suites are available, and the baby club facility is a real bonus.
CONS - Quite a hilly location. Around an hour drive away from the airport.
4. Hotel Bitácora
The hotel has an amazing central location, right in the middle of the shopping district in Playa De Las Americas. The area is flat, surrounded by bars, shops and restaurants and it’s just metres away from the 10-mile seafront promenade lined with beautiful beaches. The All-inclusive option means that families can eat and drink buffet style three times a day as well as snacks and drinks in between. They even provide a kid's buffet. There are specific bar areas designed for families with family fun entertainment and also adult only bars for those wanting to escape for a while. There are 5 outdoor pools, two of which are specifically for kids. One of the kid’s pools is heated in the winter. There is even an Aqua Park with racing and looping slides. It’s worth noting that children must be 1.2 metres or above to use the slides. There’s an entertainment team working in the hotel as well as kid’s clubs starting from 4 years old. There’s an indoor play area and a game room as well. Most rooms sleep up to 4 people and the bigger rooms are quite large. Smaller rooms only sleep 2 adults and 1 infant, so we recommend booking early to secure a bigger room.
PROS - The location. Not far from the airport, right in the middle of the shopping areas, close to the beaches and promenade and close to attractions such as Siam Park.
CONS - Been in a central location can mean that it will be noisier at times. There aren’t many facilities on site for children under 4 years old… but you do have a lot to see and do right on your doorstep!
5. GF Victoria
The GF Victoria is stylish, modern and sits just 150 metres from the stunning golden beach ‘Playa Del Duque’. It is the perfect hotel for a family break. The Costa Adeje area is filled with bars, shops and restaurants. The promenade is great for walking and the beaches are on your doorstep. The hotel itself is beautiful and really geared up for families. All rooms are suites, meaning lots of space. There is a separate bedroom and living room area. Cots and baby facilities can be provided as a standard. For an extra touch, book a premium suite. These rooms include kitchenettes and babysitting facilities on request. There’s a mini club on-site for children aged between 4-11 and even a baby club for little ones aged between 4 months and 3 years old (prior booking is required). There are 5 swimming pools in total. 3 kid's pools, 1 family pool and 1 adult only. All family and children’s pools are heated. There’s a water park with colourful slides, water jets and connecting bridges between pools. There’s something for all ages. There is even a wave pool for those wanting to learn how to surf! (Some slides and the wave pool require children to be 120cm or above). There’s an adventure playground, amazing sports facilities such as mini golf, ping pong, basketball and football. Activities for children run throughout the day. They can even practice yoga and pilates in the Zen Garden. One of the two spas within the hotel is specifically for families to use. It includes specialist treatments for hyperactive kids as well as baby massage for new mums. There are 3 main restaurants, including buffet and A La Carte. There’s also snack bars, juice bars and more. You can opt for Bed and Breakfast, Half Board or Full Board options, whatever suits you best. They can heat up baby food and generally help with anything you need. Nothing is too much trouble.
PROS - Beautiful modern hotel. Amazing location and facilities for families. Baby club, baby sitting and family spa are available.
CON - It’s hard to find one to be honest. The price is the one annoying thing as it does come with a higher price tag than most other family hotels in Tenerife.
6. Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora
Nestled between banana plantations, right on the seafront in the quaint, traditional resort of Alcalá, the Gran Melia Hotel is a perfect haven for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. All of the rooms are large and most are one- or two-bedroom suites that can accommodate up to 6 people. Cots can be provided and you may even want to upgrade to the Red Level Rooms which include extra services for families such as an indoor play area, snacks and drinks and an extra bar. There are 4 outdoor pools including 2 children’s pools. The outdoor, freshwater children’s pools are heated. One pool has slides and the other has a whirlpool. Inflatables and toys are allowed in that pool. Facilities for children are great. There’s an indoor play area with a ball pit as well as a TV and movie area. You will find a playground with swings and climbing frames. Mini club is available for children aged 4-12 years old with fun activities day and night. There is even a crèche for babies aged between 8 months- 3 years with a soft play area, books and toys as well as sleeping, feeding and changing areas. The hotel entertainment programme is catered to all ages, and there’s lots to keep the whole family happy. You can choose your board basis to cater to your own family's specific needs. Bed and Breakfast, Half Board and Full Board options are all available. There’s the main buffet ‘Food Market’ serving an array of culinary delights as well as several A La Carte options. The resort of Alcalá has a few traditional restaurants and bars, the resort has lots of parks, rock pools and small beaches. The bigger resort of Playa San Juan, lined with bars, shops and restaurants is just a short taxi ride away.
PROS - Some rooms sleep up to 6 people. It’s a beautiful, stylish hotel in a quaint location. The crèche is a great bonus!
CONS - Some find the hotel a little isolated and a half hour drive away from areas such as Las Americas and Siam Park.
7. Hotel Riu Buenavista
This all-inclusive paradise is a popular choice for families visiting Tenerife. Right on the seafront in the quiet resort Playa Paraíso, this hotel boasts stunning sea views. Not many hotels in the Canaries offer 24-hour All-inclusive facilities but the Riu Buenavista is a welcome exception. Buffet restaurants, themed Asian and Italian restaurants and snack bars enable families some choice during their stay rather than one standard dining option. They will also heat baby food, provide highchairs and hot water if needed. Rooms are large here. You can book one bedroom family suites that sleep up to four people and they even have a selection of two-bedroom apartments that can sleep up to six. There are 4 swimming pools in total, three of which are heated in the winter months (including the children’s pool). The kids pool even has a small slide. There is a very shallow pool which is perfect for babies to splash around in. There’s a play park close by too. The kids club offers fantastic entertainment for children aged between 4-12 years in the Riuland Kids Club. The animation team in the hotel work hard day and night providing a variety of family friendly entertainment for everyone to enjoy. From Aqua Gym to yoga, football, archery and more. With nightly shows and a special Riu Party night held once a week, there is something to keep the whole family happy here.
PROS - Great value for money. Large rooms that can sleep up to 6 and the fantastic choice of dining facilities.
CONS - The location is a little quiet, there isn’t a kids club or baby club available for children under four years old.
8. GF Isabel
Right in the heart of the popular resort of Costa Adeje, the GF Isabel offers affordable accommodation with families in mind. This hotel is a tardis! From the outside it looks like any normal hotel but as you enter reception you find a children’s play area, then, through the shopping and games room area you arrive into what looks like a traditional Cañarían Village. You can choose between a standard apartment, a one bed bungalow or a two bed Villa that can sleep up to 6 people plus an infant. All rooms come with a kitchenette as well, which is perfect for families. Having the option of dining in or out when you have a baby can be a real-life saver. There is a large buffet restaurant serving excellent food options for all the family and you can choose from a variety of board basis from self-catering right up to All Inclusive as well. You have snack bars, entertainment bars, play parks, mini golf and a mini club. The mini club is available for children aged 3-12 years old. They arrange mini discos, games, water sports and more. There is also an indoor soft play area for children up to three years old. There is a large outdoor, freshwater swimming pool in the centre of the hotel. It is heated between November 1st and April 30th. The additional splash park is a big hit with little people with small slides and shallow water. The GF Isabel is a very popular with families travelling to Tenerife and it is normally a little cheaper than some other top family hotels on the Island.
PROS - Great location, in the heart of the beautiful resort of Costa Adeje. Spacious rooms with kitchenettes and one of the cheaper top family hotels in Tenerife.
CONS - The main pool area can get quite busy in high season and there is only one main buffet restaurant.
9. Roca Nivaria Gran Hotel
This seafront paradise has the most breathtaking views overlooking the neighbouring island of La Gomera. In the quiet resort of Playa Paraíso, you will find small beach areas, rock pools and a high street with bars shops and restaurants. There’s a small promenade walkway for leisurely strolls and you are only a short drive away from the busier resorts of Costa Adeje and Las Americas. The hotel itself caters perfectly for families. They offer double rooms that can sleep up to three however we recommend booking a junior suite or a suite for extra space and comfort. They come with a separate bedroom and living room area and can sleep up to four people plus an infant. The hotel has 5 outdoor pools including a children’s pool and a splash park. The main children’s pool as well as the outdoor saltwater infinity pool with whirlpool are heated all year round. The other pools are heated in the winter. RoniAventura is the new multi-adventure area. It is divided into wet and dry sections. The wet section has an activity pool and a pool with a volcano, water jets and four slides. One slide is specially for younger children! The dry section is for fun adventures. Climb the rocks and suspension bridges, fly down the zip lines or slides. You will find something for every age in this adventure wonderland. The hotel also offers a mini club for children aged between four and twelve with daily activities, a playroom, playground and sand pit. As an added bonus, the hotel also has a baby club. Children between ten months and and three years old can play, sleep and eat (advanced booking is required). The hotel mascot Roni entertains children throughout the day and with mini discos at night. The entertainment team organise activities throughout the day and the hotel has great sports facilities as well as a spa. Food wise, you can choose between Half Board or All inclusive. There’s a main buffet restaurant and two A La Carte restaurants. During school holiday periods the main buffet restaurant has a separate fun kids buffet available as well. One thing we love is that directly adjacent to the main restaurant you will find a children’s playroom so parents can finish their dinner in peace!
PROS - The Splash Park, the heated pools and the baby club. Large suites and the playroom next to the buffet restaurant is a real bonus!
CONS - The location is a little quiet and some of the junior suites don’t come with a separate bedroom, they are open plan with a curtain. Make sure you check this at the time of booking.
10. H10 Costa Adeje Palace
The location of this hotel is great for families with young children. You are right on the seafront promenade that stretches for almost 10 miles in length. You are also close to the stunning white sandy beach of Playa Del Duque as well. The fishing village La Caleta is on your doorstep and you are within close proximity to attractions such as Siam Park. The hotel has 5 outdoor swimming pools, one freshwater, one heated in the winter months and the another has ecological saltwater. There is even a children’s water park on-site with slides, water cannons and a tipping bucket. It’s worth noting that the hotel recommends the slides in the waterpark are for children aged 5-10 years old. There are many activities within the hotel for children. There’s the Daisy Mini Club and playground with daily activities such as arts and crafts, games and mini discos. The supervised kids club is available for children aged between 4-12. The playground is available for any age group at anytime. You will find daily and and nightly family entertainment on-site as well as adult only areas and pools for those wanting a moments peace. Standard and superior rooms sleep up to three people, but the hotel also has a selection of family rooms available that can sleep up to four. These rooms are larger, open plan and have a king size bed plus a double sofa bed. The hotel can offer a variety of board basis from Half board up to All inclusive. You have a main buffet restaurant as well as snack bars and two a la Carte restaurants, one Spanish and the other is a Teppanyaki show dinner. They have kids buffets as well as kid’s menus. Another perk that the hotel offers is a complimentary bus service daily into the busier resort of Playa De Las Americas.
PROS - Great location, hotel entertainment and facilities geared up for people with kids.
CONS - No on-site baby facilities other than the usual cots and highchairs but that´s why you have us :).
